Should I have hal and/or dbus services running when my system doesn't have GUI? For example, in case of a mail/web server where I have console applications only on it...
Thx.
Thanks, but not appropriate for the current circumstances, for example, postfix/sendmail doesn't use IPC communications over d-bus... Any other (non-GUI) apps use this as communication mechanism?
In the "old days" I would routinely disable hal and dbus, but these days, I'd leave them on even on a headless system. You're not going to save much overhead by disabling them anyway.
