Trying to install Flash 10.1 beta on FC12
So i wanted to install flash on my FC12 box so I downloaded the flash tarzip and when I extracted it it gave me the .so file. The instructions say to put it in ~/,mozila/plugins and restart firefox but it is not showing flash content after I copied it here. Any ideas?

Re: Trying to install Flash 10.1 beta on FC12
The guy comments about 10.1 beta release (RC 6 now).
I installed the RC 6, but i copied the file to:
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
and erase/uninstall all previous versions.
EDIT: You has a 32 or 64 bits system??

Re: Trying to install Flash 10.1 beta on FC12
If you're using 64-bit Fedora, getting the 32-bit 10.1 beta plugin to work requires installing a few 32-bit packages. See
http://www.flashconf.com/tag/flash-on-64-bit-fedora/
For anyone using F13, the procedure should be the same as for F12.

It works fine for me on x86_64 F13. Three possible reasons for failure I can think of: 1) You have to add the .i686 suffix to the package names as indicated to force yum to install the 32-bit versions, 2) since it's a 32-bit plugin, it needs to be in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins (NOT /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins), and 3) the browser needs to be restarted afterwards.

Tried installing it in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins but it did not work... what .i686 packages would I need to have installed?

You probably have an updates-testing version of that package, left over from when updates-testing was enabled in pre-release F13. Use "yum downgrade nss-softokn" which should downgrade it to the present F13 version (nss-softokn-3.12.4-17).
Aside: People are always told that if they install an early version of F13 (such as the Beta) and update, they'll end up with F13 Final. That's not exactly true, since early on updates-testing is enabled and doesn't get disabled until shortly before F13 Final. Those updates-testing packages remain and cause problems like this. You can use "yum list extras" to see a list of packages not available from the currently enabled repos (you'll probably see a lot of updates-testing packages).

Have you retried today? It looks like 3.12.4-19 has been pushed in updates now.
