Question Promise 100 TX 2 RAID 1 without Promise driver ...

I now, this topic has been discussed and there are many FAQ's ...

I know that the driver of this adapter makes a scsi emulation, but my idea to use
the adapter is a other way for a RAID-1 configuration ...

I installed the adapter w i t h o u t the Promise driver and have the following disk layout:

/dev/hde1 /boot
/dev/hde2 consists of two logical volums (root and swap)

/dev/hdg ist the mirrored drive.

So, I changed /etc/fstab, that /boot is mounted witg /dev/hdc (not with the LABEL).
At boot time everything works fine, lvm only complains that he finds two identicaly PV's and boot's up from /dev/hdg.

I know, If /dev/hde fails, I have to change /etc/fstab to mount /boot correctly.

Can someone tellme, if my thinking is correct and everything will work for fail time (with little things to do by hand)?

Thanks!

rlutsch
