F12 Audio Streaming not possible?

I've tried every how-to I can find! If it simply not possible to stream audio with pulseaudio?

Flumotion says all audio devices are busy, no matter what i do!

My perfered method would be icecast with pulse, but I can't get it to work! Icecast is no problem but the streams are always blank! The only suitable method I can find is using gst:

Code:
gst-launch pulsesrc ! audioconvert ! vorbisenc ! oggmux ! shout2send mount=/scanner.ogg port=8000 password=hackme ip=127.0.0.1
Icecast shows the stream, but there is no audio.

Any suggestion? Even better would be a audio streaming distro as I have a dedicated pc, but I'm having no luck with that also.

Edit: I'm attempting to stream from the microphone port.

Many Thanks.

Re: F12 Audio Streaming not possible?

I solved that message error configuring gnome.

Quote:
$ gconftool-2 -t string --set /system/gstreamer/0.10/default/audiosink pulsesink
$ gconftool-2 -t string --set /system/gstreamer/0.10/default/audiosrc pulsesrc
$ gconftool-2 -t string --set /system/gstreamer/0.10/default/musicaudiosink pulsesink

GStreamer can play audio using any number of output elements. Some possible choices are osssink, esdsink and alsasink. The audiosink can be a partial pipeline instead of just one element.

Pulseaudio capturing audio

parec -d alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-surround-71.monitor | sox -t raw -r 44100 -sLb 16 -c 2 - /home/BluePeople/Desktop/pulsetest.wav

or

pacat --volume=32768 --format=s16ne --channels=2 --rate=44100 -r -d alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-surround-71.monitor > /home/BluePeople/Desktop/pulsetest.wav

To get the "Source Monitor"

pactl list | grep -i "monitor source"

Adding pulse monitor to /etc/alsa/pulse-default.conf

# Let's create a virtual monitor "pulse"

pcm.pulse_monitor {
type pulse
device alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-surround-71.monitor
}

ctl.pulse_monitor {
type pulse
device alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-surround-71.monitor
}

Problems:

Crackling = Solution is to reduce the volume on the PCM device or directly on the app.

Listing sources

pacmd list-sources
If you feel adventurous you could try the pacmd(commandline)

And take a look at what the modules do:

Re: F12 Audio Streaming not possible?

I finally got this working with darkice, only changing the device to default:

Code:
[input]
device = default #/dev/dsp # OSS DSP soundcard device for the audio input
sampleRate      = 22050     # sample rate in Hz. try 11025, 22050 or 44100
bitsPerSample   = 16        # bits per sample. try 16
channel         = 2         # channels. 1 = mono, 2 = stereo
This feeds icecast and everything works! I should have done this to begin with but I kept reading darkice was not necessary with pulse, didn't work for me!

I also tried to enable the pulseaudio based server/client sound server sharing and it spammed my wireless so hard it would drop out!

Read more about that here:

http://taint.org/2008/03/21/142716a.html

IMO Pulseaudio is absolute crap, sure wish Fedora would move to something usable!

Anyhow, thanks for the help!
