MP4 Player on Fedora 12?

Usually I use Dragon Player most of the time. It plays low resolution files fine but somehow has trouble decoding the 1080p/30p video clips I shot with my Sanyo VPC-FH1. The images appears fuzzy and look like ghosts.

I am not sure what codec does Sanyo use, but I would imagine it is some sort of AVCHD variation.

Could anyone recommend a good MP4 player which can handle these HD videos?

Thanks in advance!

Usually VLC or Mplayer come in handy for high quality video formats. You can install both via YUM.

Tried that. The same as Dragon player. The sound is ok, but the video is all fuzzy and ghost like.

It's possible that they're all using ffmpeg to play back the file, and ffmpeg's handling of this kind of file is broken. Can you run mplayer on the file with the '-v' option and post what it prints to the console?

I actually use ffmpeg to downgrade these videos all the time. The downgraded video plays fine everywhere including my iPod.

Here is the output from ffmpeg:
Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 119.88 (120000/1001) -> 59.94 (60000/1001)

Were you running that from a remote system? There's some rather odd messages in there.

^_^ You are good. I logged into my home PC from my office.

Anyway, mplayer seems to the only one that plays the video ok. Thanks for the advice! Playing these video is the only thing I couldn't do on my f12 and had to have a windows machine ready, now finally don't have to turn on my Windows 7 PC now. I am not going to miss it.
