Corrupt mysqldump

I dumped an sql database from our server so that we could replace hard drive, now that I go back to dump the sql file back into the database I get an error (syntax-illegal character). Is there a way to repair the dumped sql file? Is there a way to dump this back to the database so that phpMyadmin can repair.

Special thanks for your time here.
