Dell Inspiron 4xxx

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop and there a few issues with the core 2 installation

1 - double tapping on the touchpad does not perform the left button function

2 - Netgear 802.11b card not detected
when pcmcia restarted error stated no sockets found. Light on card flashing during installation after install nothing.

That is as far as i got until i gave up. Both of these worked flawlessly with core 1 the laptop is not an unique item, standard laptop with no frills.

Does any one have any ideas
