In short, as the title says, the display, mouse, and keyboard freeze whenever a part of the desktop gets repainted. I think, but not sure, it happens when any part of an existing window gets covered by a part of another window. Updates within a window are okay. But if a dialog, or even a tootip pops up, everything hangs for many seconds. I can drag a window, but if it touches another window, then the same.
I have a radeon card, running R300 code. I have this in
dmesg:
[drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810
radeon 0000:01:00.0: can't find IRQ for PCI INT A; probably buggy MP table
[drm] Forcing AGP to PCI mode
I am running F11.
FWIW: this is on an old(er) PC: dual PII 400MHz. Granted it is slow, but I also had an nvidia card in it before, and never had this problem (on F9 and F10). So I am (only) guessing that the F11 radeon driver is doing this.
Are there any options to the radeon module that might help? My BIOS has a bunch of AGP options. Anything in particular that might affect this?
TIA
