How do I get an .iso file off a DVD/CD?

I've downloaded a lot of Fedora and Ubuntu operating systems and I like to keep a backup of the .iso files on my computer for my virtualbox and to make new DVD/CDs if any get scratched. But I've lost some of the .iso files. So what I want to know is can I take the Fedora/Ubuntu OS thats on the DVD/CD and turn it back into a bootable .iso file?
