I don't know buddy but it works well if you update the system and enable both smb & nmb services however it's not like I can see your config or what's been done from here.

arturius at the terminal, can you:

First update the system:
su
yum update
and paste the output of:
chkconfig --list nmb
chkconfig --list smb

Then run
testparm
- fix any errors it kicks back

pdbedit -L -w
- I don't need to see the long string, just verifying that users have been defined.

service smb restart
service nmb restart
-restarts the services

-paste the output from
smbclient -L 127.0.0.1
For giggles, if it looks good on your end, try browsing from windows after 1 or 2minutes.

In your samba conf file, you say the workgroup is MSHOME. Are you sure this is what your workgroup name is in windows? do you have it set to MSHOME, or WORKGROUP?

Also, in your config file, you have your home directory set so it's not browseable...

#============================ Share Definitions ==============================

[homes]
comment = Home Directories
browseable = no
writable = yes

[printers]
comment = All Printers
path = /var/spool/samba
browseable = no
printable = yes

Smile Accessing Windows Shares on Fedora

I resolved the issue that I had! After doing the following, I can now access my Windows Shares on Fedora!!!!

For more details go to Step 5. Managing Security for Samba

http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...f11.html#samba

From Mauriat Miranda's guide for Personal Fedora Installation guide.
5. Managing Security for Samba

Firewall

The Firewall will by default block Samba, to allow access run:

[mirandam@charon ~]$ system-config-firewall

To allow Samba access to work through the firewall you must set 'Samba' as a 'Trusted Service' and hit 'Apply'.

After much manipulation and install samba and disable SElinux I at least have 1 2 way street from Vista into my user folders. I spent 4 hours to get this far, the thing that I am finding.
When you want to get to the user folder(s) from Vista by going to Network, then you will see one of the users is labled WORKGROUP and when you open it, you see either prompt to login, which you supply a valid user name that is in the samba users, and you can get in.
That leaves me with a way to exchange data at least.
However to date Fedora and none of the other Distros I have tried, Ubuntu Freespire have ever even gotten this far.

SO my real question is, will all this B/S be resolved in Fedora 12 which is due out in 9 days or less?

If they can pull off Full WIndows 7 and Vista and Mac Networking, WITHOUT ANY MOD on a clean install that I think it has a great Future. Otherwise were still in the dark ages.
Granted maybe networking on Fedora is so much better. but it rteally HAS to talk to all types of networking right off the running CD LIVE not having to Yum Update to get there, and NOT having to force the user into the terminal and run 100 commands and editing to get there.

Now I can mount cifs

I kept getting the error message referred to, Discovered that I didn't have the package "Samba Client Programs" loaded. A clue was that bash reported that smbclient was unknown. After loading said package things worked as in previous Fedoras. I don't understand why these packages aren't loaded together. It is easy to miss this one.
