Wow.... Touchy much??
I read every post here and I didn't see where anybody told you that you could NOT post an M$ Windoze question here, but it was suggested that you might find better support for such things elsewhere. If it were not for Bob's cut-n-paste answer (that some would argue you could have easily found yourself through Google or the like) you would most likely still be in the dark over this situation.
No, for my own personal thought on such things..........
I personally use and love Avast for my M$ Virtual systems as well as the Mrs's pure M$ notebook AND my dual boot system. My experience with it has been wonderful and the free version seems to be just as rich as the paid from what I have seen so far.
It DOES have a boot scan and the instructions for using it correctly are well documented on their web site (or at least they were when I first had to read them years ago).
In a nutshell, I would suggest you disconnect the M$ load from the I-net, use F11 to download the Avast .exe and all updated virus definitions to your NTFS partition, completely uninstall your existing VP software (assuming you have one), install Avast (and updates), let it do the COMPLETE boot scan and deal with any of the badness it finds in that process. When that is complete, you should be off to the races and all should be as good as possible for your commercial Redmond Virus load (AKA: Windoze O$).
Oh, and one other suggestion just a little off this subject......... It isn't generally a good idea to cop an attitude in a user forum such as this one (or any, for that matter) with the people that are volunteering their time to try to help you. You will never win brownie points that way and you are less likely to get any useful help from them in the future when you do. Even when you are SURE that you are right and they are wrong, it is much smarter to calmly SHOW them why than to snap back as you did here.
Some of my biggest lessons were learned when I have tried to SHOW someone they were wrong and they, in turn, SHOWED me that I was actually the one that was mistaken. The debates on the subject were as fun as could be too
