Upgrade From FC5

Hi All,
My server needs a software upgrade. I have read numerous posts and have found conflicting advice.
Question :
Should i start again and install FC11 on a clean machine or should i try to upgrade from FC5 ?

grayboots, my thought would be a clean machine with FC11.

If you have an image and extra machine to do the F11 install, to lessen any server downtime that may be an idea to pursue, depending on the server's usage...food for thought. :v)

Doubt it's possible to upgrade from FC5 to F11 anyway. Even if it appears to work on the surface, who knows if you won't have issues days/weeks/months from now?

Backup, nuke, and reinstall. Pause for snacks and naps as needed.

EDIT:
Actually, at risk of opening up that can of worms again, I'd consider CentOS over Fedora if it's a dedicated server.

CentOS is like Fedora, but more intended for servers. It has a longer release cycle than Fedora (any given version of Fedora hits end of life after about 12 months give or take), and has more stable packaging.

In a sense, CentOS is the closest thing to running Redhat without paying for a support contract.

I had an old version of FC too and am trying to upgrade today. I don't think an "upgrade" is possible so I will be doing a clean install - that is, if I can ever get the installer to work. If it does not work, I will try CentOS or Ubuntu. goodluck!

Thanks for your message. I would really like to know how you get on and which operating system you end up with. I have not done anything yet as things seem to have settled down themselves. I must do something soon as i cant update using yum.
