Question Programming Language Translators

Perhaps this topic belongs on Software, but a look there suggests the "board" is for application users.

Is an x86 assembler and/or a COBOL compiler available for use under Linux? I read (sort of) C, but my expertise lies elsewhere.

GETMAIN, anybody?
