Maximize around GKrellM

Is it possible to set GKrellM as a panel, so that when I maximize a window, it will not stretch past GKrellM? Like how windows dont cross the taskbar when maximized. I used the option in GKrellM that said "set as panel or dock" but that did not do the trick for me.

Also, If I want to set my taskbar panel to be transparent, but with some shading (so it is visible) How can I make the minimized windows in the taskbar transparent, or at least a certain color?
