How do I resize a FAT32 USB partition.

I have a usb drive of 250 GB and would like to shrink it down to 230GB.
Is this possible. I have tried Gparted (LiveCD also) and when I click on the partition I am not able to choose to resize.
There is about 40GB of data on the drive which I can't erase....otherwise i would just wipe the whole thing and prob solved.
Is there a workaround for this?

for grow and shrink the partition u must create a dynamic partition.
u can use tune2fs utility

Thank you....but this seems to be for ext2 & 3 partitions.

seeing as you SHOULD BACK UP that 40 gig's BEFORE you even try to resize it ,just reformat and copy it back from the backup .

Schoolboy error. Forgot to unmount the USB before trying to resize. ;-)
