WinXP on VirtualBox 8bit display

i'm just installed VirtualBox following this guide:
http://www.derekhildreth.com/blog/ho...a-10-tutorial/

then i created a WinXP VM... installed GuestAdditions and everything seems to be fine, display was fine 32bit 800x600...

Anyhow after rebooting, the VM only display 8bit and 640x480 for XP... this is really weird

has anyone come across this before? i can't seem to figure out a fix to get my display back to normal

I let DangerMouse install my VirtualBox for me (thanks again, DM) and I have WinXP Pro installed. I hate that the emulation doesn't support good enough graphics to play WoW, but I have no prob with switching resolutions (I go up to 1024X768 because my screen is 1280X800) and running 32-bit color. Sorry I don't have an answer for you, it might have to do with your specific hardware, or you might try using DangerMouse's script.

thanks... i manage to get 32bit color by uninstalling GuestAdditions... when reinstalling i still get 32bit color but with 640x480 only... i have to go without GuestAddition to get 800x600 or more unfortunately

update:
uninstalled guestadditions, installed all windows updates... reinstalled guestadditions and it ran fine... then 8bit hit back, i uninstalled guestadditions and reinstalled and it's been running fine since then... hope it won't fall back to 8bit, i think it's not to do with my VM but more to do with the capability of my lil MSI WIND...
