Problems installing Fedora 10 on dual boot with Windows XP

Hi,

I'm new to Fedora 10 and I hope someone can help me with this. The last fedora project I used to dual boot with Winsows XP was Fedora 6, and it worked fine. I recently wiped my hard drives and just installed Windows XP, but last night I tried to install Fedora 10 as a dual boot using the DVD version and I had problems.

The install looked to be going fine until I got to the end and Fedora was getting ready to unpack the install files (it was appearing with isntall 2 of 1100, something like that), and then my screen went black jsut leaving me with timer on the curser. My PC didn't give any indication that it was processing anything from the Fedora DVD any more. I tried the install process 3 times, every time with the same results.

Is someone able to help me with this problem? Could it be a problem with my PC spec? But seen as I used to work fine with Fedora 6, I can't see why it should be a problem with fedora 10. Or is this a known problem with fedora 10?

Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Fran

At this point in the install process virtual terminals may be available to you. You can switch to these with CTRL/ALT/F1 through 7. You will see various messages in several of those terminals, some of which may offer some clue as to what's going / went wrong.

The command line switches for installing Fedora can be found here, http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda/Options. I'm wondering if anything there may apply to your situation. Something with your video / display adapter?

With some hardware, I've found the splash screen can sometimes cause the symptoms you describe. I've added "nosplash" to the boot parameters, and gotten around this.
