    Thumbs up Thanks

    @ Malike
Great work! Or as Coach Z from Homestarrunner.com would say....Ya did a great jaeorb!

    @ Tutankh
I attempted your method but think it was Malike's source build against the F10 system that won me over. Honestly, the kernel versions are probably the same, haven't checked, but thanks for offering a different alternative.

As I said, built with the Fedora 9 SRPM, but with libmtp disabled. I also don't have access to an i386 machine, and can't install xine-libs.i386 on my x86_64 machine due to a conflict.
Wow you are awesome! I spent the last few days trying to get amarok 1.4 on my FC10 system, tried looking for builds and also building my own w/o luck. So happy to have 1.4 back I could cry.. =P

    I included

    Quote:
    exclude=amarok*

in my /etc/yum.conf, but today I got (see screenshot) from update system.
Basically, it's trying to update amarok because of a "bug fix".
How can I tell it not to update amarok 1.4 permanently?

no need for the asterisk (*). You'll also want to add libmtp, and libnjb on there

why do you guys want to roll back to 1.4????

I have installed 2.0 on my fedora 9 box.
It is a nice and friendly app.

I don't know what you call a friendly app, but for me an application in order to be called friendly has to be stable, fast, reliable. None of these apply to amarok 2.0. Also it should have more and not less features in the newer version.
For example transferring music to an Ipod is not working in 2.0. In the new version it completely rescans my entire collection without memorizing it the next time I start it up. I would say it is very buggy and not finished as a beta at all. The 1.4 amarok is very good and has never let me down. Wjhat puzzles me is why amarok 2.0 beta was allowed in F10.

-No extensive media tag viewing pane** (this is the big one)
-Cluttered interface with little ability to impact any significant features
    -inability to select sound engine
-inability to deselect the dynamic playlist mode
-confusing/non-intuitive UI (yes i know this one is closed-minded)

Suffice to say, I appreciate what they tried to do, but thus far feel 1.4 is a more coherent release.

on F10 pulseaudio produce some problems, verify on your amarok, gnome, kde, mplayer, xine,kaffeine... settings the driver; it could be alsa, oss, etc, but not pulseaudio
that's what i needed. so great thank you oscar3332000, thanks to everyone who helped resolving this.
==> packages confirmed, works great with alsa
($yum remove pulseaudio; # then restart, that will turn the alsa back)

Installed Amarok 1.4.10 successfully from tarball

After running into errors with RPM when trying to use the package from Koji, I found a plain old source tarball from http://www.icewalkers.com/Linux/Soft...70/Amarok.html.

Taking a hint from Malikeye about the MTP problem, I did
    Code:
    ./configure --enable-mysql --without-libmtp --prefix=`kde-config --prefix`
    make
    make install
    and voila! it works.

    BTW, I'm running F10, i386 (not 64-bit).

Smile Amarok 1.4.10 now installed and working

My thanks to all those who have helped out on this thread. In particular, YeOK, oscar3332000 and tutankh.

I now have Amarok 1.4.10 running fine on my F10 box.

    Thank you

Any one interested in patched amarok rpms with libmtp-0.3.6 support?, if so let me know and I will upload them.
