What an adventure! I went on IRC again and talked with "thomasj" and some other folks and, in the end I just needed to reinstalled "akmod" via YUM. I first removed all nvidia kmods packages. It looks like RPMFusion corrected the problem. I'm back to 6k FPS.
Code:
yum remove akmod-nvidia kmod-nvidia
yum install akmod-nviaia
