kppp and other kde applications cannot start in fc2
hi,
i just installed the fc2 workstation defaults and then added the other kde packages but now the kde applications cannot start when i want to start kppp this is the error:
[root@localhost]# /usr/bin/kppp
kppp: error while loading shared libraries: libkio.so.4: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
plz help me .

There may be other issues, but to start, you can go to rpmfind.net, head to their search page and type in libkio.so.4, and then download and install the appropriate file.

Do not use rpmfind.net unless it's absolutely necessary. To me, even with lots of experience, I've gotten the wrong or "bad" RPMs. It's much safer/better/easier to rely on the yum/apt respositories (please search the forums for how to use these utilities).

hi crackers,
thanks for reply,you are right it is better to use yum or apt-get for installation of packages but the problem is i can't go online withou kppp and that is the error with it .

Try installing all of the KDE RPMs from your CD's. You'll have to do this through the Package Manager, or by hand from a terminal.

Oops... Sorry, I forgot that you couldn't get online. Rather than reinstalling all your KDE .rpm files, you could look for and reinstall just the kdelibs file which will give you libkio.so.4.
The current version for FC2 is:

thanks for all ,i dwonload the kdellibs in other distro and isntalled it now all kde applications can start,
