Exclamation HELP: need info on installing Fedora 9 betw. AMD64 and Pentium III

Hello all:

I am new here and is in need of some help. I have two computers: an Athlon 64 and an older but capable Pentium III, which is 32 bit. The DVD drive in the Pentium III is broken--I have to wait three days before Newegg will ship it and I need this Pentium III as a 2nd machine. Anyways, I have a working DVD drive in the Athlon, but since it is SATA, I can't switch it out, soooo...My plan of action was to put the Pentium's hard drive into the Athlon machine and install Fedora. Will this work or will it fail? Keep in mind the Pentium is 32 bit and the Athlon is 64 bit (and dual core), so will it boot w/o problems when I put it back into the Pentium computer? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can install a 32bit release on a 64bit but not vice versa. I would give it a try and you may be surprised with the results. I have installed to Pentium 3 and removed the hdd and placed it in a P4 with dual cores and it booted up to a working desktop.

So it will be a gamble on your part and I would be curious to see your results and you won't know if it will fail until you try. Go for it!
