Tiscali With FC3

I recently (in the early hours of this morning), installed FC3 and everything seems to be running fine. The only problem that i have is I have no idea how to configure my USB modem. I searched the forum and found another post about this, and the URL of an rpm was given, but this link no longer works. Anyway, the modem is a SAGEM F@st 800 USB ADSL from Tiscali. Any suggestions?

Sorted

Nevermind, sorted it. It was pretty simple in the end. Found Linux drivers and instructions on Sagems site and the fix of copying /var.run/ppp/resolve.conf to /etc/resolve.conf wasnt working because the file wasnt created until startadsl was used. I always find answers right after i post anywhere...

Tiscali with FC3

Hi Subcynic

I too have the same set up - Tiscali broadband and the same ADSL modem with eagle 3 chipset.

There is also a uegale-atm driver for this chipset.
Can you please show how you configured your modem please?
Can you do that from the from the network configuration panel>

The on;y difference is that I have the new Fedora 9 Linux installed.

Any help would be really appreciated indeed.

I have seen the very long winded way of the installation, but if there is no easier way of doing it, I shall simply buy a Router/Modem instead.

Regards.
Paul

Paul2008 did you notice that the posts by "Subcynic " were made on "2005-06-10" and that Subcynic only has 2 posts .That person has not been back( using that name) since 2005.

as for your asdl modem have you tried turned off " Network Manager" and turned on " network" in the system services .
System / Administration / Services
and /or have you set your ip,submask, and dns by hand or just letting dchp do it ?
also is ipv6 turned off or is in on( on by default -- hopeing for MS to get a clue) ?

Thank you for your reply, and I had noticed all of the above.

I shall try and install the modem as suggested in other threads on this forum
I have the Fedora 9 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Bible by Christopher Negus as a very good guide as well.

The modem is not installed by the network configuration, and has to be done by installing the ueagle-atm driver, then the kernel headers, then the configuration iitself.
Too much hassle, I might try it, if it doesn't work, I'll buy a Router/Modem instead.

Regards.
Paul
