Play Warcraft III using WINE --- keyboard not recognized??

Hi,

I have installed the 0.9.51 version of WINE and running Warcraft 3 with OpenGL support. The display and sound seemed fine but I can't use the keyboard in the game! I have to use the mouse to do everything, which rendered the game unenjoyable.

It seems that Warcraft fails to take control of the keyboard input. I started a terminal window, launch Warcraft with WINE, get into the game and press "S" for the "Single Player" menu item, and nothing happened. I quit the game by clicking on the "Quit" menu item, get back to the desktop, and found what I typed (in this case the "S" key) is redirected to the terminal. The same thing happened whatever key I pressed in whatever stage of gameplay. So Warcraft gets no keyboard activities at all! The mouse did work, though.

A quick update

Adding the "-window" parameter seems to be a partial workaround: the game now plays in window mode, and after I clicked the mouse over the window it got the focus and understood my keyboard commands. However the window boundary is not displayed well, and panning the game view with mouse was plainy painful. I have to use the keyboard to move around, even for very small steps!

My yum just updated to wine 0.9.52 ( I think) I noticed that my Half Life 2 runs better than before. (but still have to run in DX8 mode) You could try letting it update and see if it fixes your problem, but often times wine updates fix some things and break others.....

Ok i had alot of issues with war3tft and the i figured out if you tinker with your wine settings and allow it to control windows it will run fullscreen and allow key input.
