Blotchy words in Firefox Browser how do I fix this?

I am not sure what is going on , When I first installed and had firefox everything was fine. I haven't been on Fedora for about a week and yesterdayI booted into Fedora 8 and opened up FIrefox and I can barely see any of the writen words, they are all blotchy , I seem to remember that there is a fix for this but I don't seem to remember how could someone please show me

Open a terminal and do
gnome-appearance-properties

Click on the "Fonts" tab and put a dot in the "Sub Pixel Smoothing" radial selection button. Or try the other radial selection buttons to get the best results.
