Weird problem with vpnc

I do this

sudo vpnc

It asks for my password. I type it and it seems to connect fine. Then try to ssh to something on the remote network. It doesn't respond at all! Then I do a

sudo vpnc-disconnect
sudo vpnc

then try to ssh, and it works fine! I've been using this for a few months and almost every time I have to do this connect-disconnect-connect procedure and then it works. Is this common? Or is there something that can be done to fix it?

Thanks,

Dave

From the looks of it, no.

Do you have, by any chance, anything in your .bashrc on the remote machine that echoes to terminal when started, e.g. fortune?
