Angry 3G HSDPA, Firewalls and a Jailed Gnutella

Hi List;

Issue is crystal clear:

1) F9 has firewall off, iptables down, connection is OK for all matters: vnc, ssh, sftp, http... you name it.

2) Router is T-Mobile web'n'walk box, its firewall is turned down, no encryption is used. forwarded ports are set (supposedly of no use since there is no firewall, huh?). Local GSM provider is called qbmore.com, the modem was bought separately.

[No need to start barking, this is for testing purposes]

...But nevertheless, Gnutella complains that I am firewalled to the max, and canyouseeme.org reports ports unavailable (timed out); amount of "findings" is ridiculously low. Average speed available here in Cambodia is ridiculously low too BTW, this HSDPA link returns 40Kbytes/s when talked into it very politely.

?? Ideas ??

Thanks.

Jean-Philippe

I have no idea what gnutela is, but from what you have said I am wondering if it needs incoming connections. i.e. on your home router do you need to forward ports to the linux box?

If so, it will not work. You are on a 10.x.x.x subnet, where the router is controlled by t-mobile.

Er, no, the router is a plain vanilla 192.168.0.1 gate, giving addresses in the .100/.200 range; then, I use Fixed IP anyway, and OpenDNS.org

Gnutella is a peer-to-peer software, to exchange files.

What do you mean by "network is controlled by T-Mobile"? This German modem is not used with T-Mobile, we don't have them here, it's just used as recipient for my 3G sim card.

cheers
