Installation Media Problems

I've burnt 4 separate DVDs, having re-downloaded the 64 Bit install media for Fed 9 each time yet none of my discs seem to work. The 32 Bit install and live media DVD I got free with a book works fine, but the self-made stuff doesn't work.

I'm running a Dell XPS720 and it's had 64 Bit fed on before (fed8). I'm puzzled as to why my PC wont recognise my DVD. Does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone experienced similar problems?

thanks

Did you verify the SHA1SUM prior to burning the DVDs?

When you say that the DVD doesn't work, exactly what do you mean?

Have you considered burning the DVD on a friend's computer?

Have you considered installing from iso image on your hard drive?

Have you considered installing from the CDs?

I burned SHA1SUM to the DVD, along with the ISO. Is this where I am going wrong?

My machine is set to boot from DVD/CD first then HDD. It recognises the 32 Bit Fedora DVD but not my 64 Bit (i.e. when I load the 64 Bit DVD my PC boots straight to windows on the HDD, as if there were no DVD in the drive)

I can try that if all else fails.

Are there instructions for that in the Fedora media online?

I can try that if i've done nothing wrong with the DVD burning.

It shouldn't be possible to burn anything except the ISO if you do it the right way, so this is your problem. The SHA1SUM file is used to check the downloaded ISO file before burning. See the "Making Fedora Discs" guide: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/readme...ng-isos/en_US/

What markkuk said is undoubtedly your problem.

Yes. See http://docs.fedoraproject.org/instal...harddrive.html

I've used that before when there weren't CDs available (F7) because my old computer that I've got Fedora on has no DVD reader.
