Problems configuring Squirrelmail with IMAP and Sendmail

Hi all,

I am running FC9 and using sendmail 8.14.2, Cyrus IMAPD 2.3.11, and Squirrelmail 1.4.15 as a webmail client hosting multiple domains.

I have successfully configured sendmail to manage the domains and virtual users, and have configured imap and can successfully log in to the webmail server. However I have 2 issues that I can't seem to resolve:

1. Imap doesn't seem to be using the saslauth for authentication. I have to create the users on the server itself and use that password to log in to the mail server and also within imap.

2. Sendmail is sending and receiving mail properly, however the INBOX folder within Squirrelmail is empty, even though the 'mbox' in users' home directories contain the incoming mail.

Any ideas on what steps I should take to further troubleshoot this issue.

Do you have dovecot running for IMAP? Sendmail does the sending, dovecot does the receiving and puts in mbox or /var/spool/mail. Then Thunderbird or SquirrelMail reads off mbox or /var/spool/mail.

Thanks for the help marcblevins. I was using Cyrus IMAP. I disabled it and turned dovecot on and everything is working perfectly. So much easier!

Oh, I thought Cyrus was a password authentication purposes, not a e-mail service. New things to learn.
