setting up sendmail to use ISP server for sending mail

I have a mail server set up at home using dyndns
i am able to recieve mail from hotmail, yahoo etc,
however i am not able to send mail out to hotmail etc.
I recieved an error message that says that hotmail does not recieve mail form
dynamic IP addresses.
Is there a way around this.
Is it possible to set up sendmail to use my ISP's server for sending out mail?
if it is possible how do i do it and is it legal?

I'lll give you a partial answer till a sendmail person answers.

It is usually legal if your ISP allows it. Different ISPs have different TOS (Terms Of Service). My ISP, Roadrunner, at least the NYC version, doesn't explicitly forbid it. Their TOS states that you can't use excessive bandwidth, which means if you have a lightly used web or mail server, they'll probably ignore it.

In postfix, to do it (when it's allowed) one sets the relayhost=<isp's-smtp.server>. I'm afraid I don't know how to do it in sendmail.

I Kind of got it working but i can recieve mail from all addresses
but i can't send to some addresses.
i can sent to @yahoo.ca, @gmail.com but when i send to @live.ca
it is rejected because of the dynamic ip address.

Hi,

In sendmail it is in the /etc/mail/sendmail.mc file.
You will find a line with smart host like this:

define(`SMART_HOST', `smtp.ntlworld.com')dnl

So just change the smtp.ntlworld.com to your ISP and that's it.

I just setup my spam gateway with sendmail and no-ip to test it.
The Clamav antivirus and spamassassin milter filtering the attachments and spams as well.

I've been using sendmail for 5 years and a few years spamassassin and spamass-milter as well.
But I don't have experience with clamav yet.

I am able to send mail to some address though but i am having difficulty finding
my isp's mail server address.
They have a special configuration software that you download and run for outlook.
is there an easy way to find out.

sorry to border you guy's. I am a student and i need help.
I am good on server 2003 and other windows stuff but i just started on fedora about 4 months ago.
