Unable to remap eth ports

Hi all,
I have a problem.
I need to remap my eth ports as they are found. I can do it after everything is already setup using ifrename
but that creates a whole new set of problems for me.

Ive tried a bunch of other stuff but nothing seems to work.....
Im thinking of changing the driver code (Im using sk98lin) but there must be a simpler solution then that.

Can anyboby suggest what else I can do??? Im out of ideas
