Same problem

Hey, I have a PIV socket 775 Intel MBoard with PCI Express technology and a SATA HDD, the same thing happened to me and I couldn't continue with the installation. Did you fix your problem? If you did please tell how.

I am not quite sure but I suppose that you are "victims" of the Linux Crash Bug . Nothing serious though. At the install promp type sth that will produce error like "garbage" and then start the installation normally.
Refer to:

for more info.
Hope it helps!
