Red Hat Professional Workstation - More Expensive, Fewer Features

A critical article has been published on NewsForge regarding Red Hat Professional Workstation, a haphazard attempt to try to continue in some form the old Red Hat versions for the home user. Why Red Hat are pursuing this line I'll never know, and I'd have expected them to point to Fedora rather than try and sell a poor product.

I was deciding whether to post this or not and decided against it as the viewpoint of the author seemed a little too critical and uninformed.

One interesting comment from a poster in the talkback area mentions on the authors incorpation of quotes from Rob Enderle:

You left off CEO, janitor, Linux basher, and FOSS hater extrordinaire. The so-called Enderle Group is a one man shop, him. He, Didiot, and a few others are infamous for parroting whatever party line dribbles from the anus of the likes of Microsoft, SCO, etc. Their credibility approaches negative infinity.

There are many other informed comments made there as well.

It was definately biased. But I just thought it would be appropriate, so that post is his views and not mine.

I applaud your decision to include this link as it is important to understand the issues from all sides (even the ones that are perceived by others as truth yet are blatantly incorrect) as otherwise we are blissfully unaware of anything but our own little happy place and become just another closed minded software user that is not willing to accept any other position but his/her own.

The original article by Jason Prince doesn't contain any bias that I can see. Can you please illuminate where this bias is, and in what ways you feel the author is uninformed?

To me it's just another article that I don't take too seriously. It just came across IMHO, that he was trying to downplay the product by pointing out features he thought it ought to have but doesn't Such as support for more servers included. Why mention this? It is after all a WorkStation product. Basically, he seemed to portay wanting to bake his cake and eat it too. Just my opinion though. Each to his own.
