Unhappy How to prevent KNode from starting in FC4?

Hello,

For some reason KNode has been starting at bootup in KDE under FC4. Its a bit nagging, I have tried using chkconfig but to no avail. Is there a way of removing KNode from startup?

Thanks

I am still facing the problems. Can I stop KNode from loading at startup, or for that matter, any other application. All I know about is chkconfig (and I use it to start or stop some services).

Any help is really appreciated!

KNode starting when you start KDE has nothing to do with system startup. What you need to do is use the KDE Control Center, select "Session Manager" under "KDE Components" and select "Start with an empty session." KNode is being started as a result of your last saved KDE session, most likely.

Hi Crackers,

Thanks for your help. Your suggestion worked, I was unaware of the session manager in KDE. I guess I was just dumb

Thanks!

Does anyone know if there is a way in KDE to run a command on start-up like you can in gnome. An example is sudo firestarter.

You can create "application links" under $HOME/.kde/Autostart. And this is not a good way to start the Firestarter daemon - I'd suggest going back and reading the documentation and/or starting the daemon from the /etc/rc.d/rc.local script.
