FC4 w/ widescreen monitor problems

I'm running FC4 w/ an ATI 9800 pro and a dell w2300@1280x800

my problem is the desktop is hanging off the monitor and i cannot adjust my monitor to accomidate the missing part.

The time + date is not showing. How can i fix this?
