Thread Closing and moving posts, and deleting pots

I'm a bit surprised at the quick draw McGraw attitude about the posts that are closed, moved, or deleted.

Closing due to an arguement I can see being done after a short time to give the arugers time to settle it.
(otherwise, they will do it again)

deleting posts
I have had 3 posts deleted without any reason given and was purely done for spit and jealous control issues, I even think I know who did it. From experience on other sites, it is never a good idea to delete a thread. There are many, many reasons.

Moving posts
The moves are done tooo soon. Many that are moved playout in a few posts.
No reason given for moving the posts.
Some conversations were interrupted.

Number of thread adminstrators seems to be on the high side and act inconsistant and too quick.

In conclution, I think there should be a longer time deley before moving or closing a thread (that is not one of arguement) and a reason given. No posts or threads should be deleted.

I move threads when they fit better in another forum. I always mention they are moved. Are you suggesting that leaving a redirect in the old would help keep the discussion going? Note that you can still access it from the same URL, and they reappear at the top of recent posts. Leaving redirects may clutter up the forums.

Duplicate and/or cross posted threads split converation and also contribute to the clutter. Ideally a topic goes in one forum, the most appropriate one, the first time.

Always keep the posting guidelines in mind.

I always leave a re-direct in posts that I move...I delete very little and
nothing recently. Ads are removed immediately, as well as "trolling" type posts.

I will move a lot of threads, but only because they've been placed in misguiding categories. As a rule of thumb, redirects are always included to prevent confusion.

I shall make an effort to leave more redirects for those people who browse by forum and not by searches or recent posts.
