Low Screen resolution

I have an issue with a IBM Thinkpad 600 that had no issues with FC2, now I am running FC3 and the laptop will not run anything higher the 800x600.

I tried going in a root user into the /etc/x11/xorg.conf file and it shows that it will go to 1024x768. Then lower down it shows "600x400" "800x600" "1024x768"

but when I go to change the resolution, it only gives the options of 600x400 and 800x600

any ideas?

Look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and see if all the modes you asked for were accepted.

Go up a bit in the xorg.conf file and look at the

HorizSync

and

VertRefresh

lines inside your "Monitor" section. I changed mine to this

HorizSync 31.5 - 94.0
VertRefresh 50.0 - 90.0

and 1024x768 was suddenly perfectly fine.

Try running system-config-display and setting your LCD display type and desired resolution from there. I forgot to add...Do this as root from a terminal, not from the applications menu.

I'll get it right eventually! Set your LCD type to generic and the desired resolution.

Thank you for the link, worked perfect, as I was having the same issue after. I got it to run, but I would have to scroll the "desktop" and run the xvidtune and fixed it. Thank you for the help.
