usb adsl modem

I've read all the threads and have now succesfully installed the eagle usb driver 2.0 for my usb modem. The lights are on and I'm transmitting and receiving ok (with the terminal monitor showing this is so) but I can't get on the net or do email. I ran eaglediag and the only error was DNS KO. What does this mean? I'm a newbie to Linux but am enjoying the experience and it would be great to iron out this last niggle. Do I have to set the DNS addresses? or can it be done with DHCP? if so where do I get at that?

Thanks
