Problem Configuring a TP MR3040 wireless router with a ZTE MF112 Broadband Modem

I recently purchased a TP-link TL MR3040 wireless router to use with my existing ZTE MF112 3G wireless modem USB stick. However, despite many hours tinkering, I haven't yet been able to get this configuration to work. Despite the fact that everything "appears" to be setup correctly (my computer can login to the router, the router recognises the modem, the various IP, APN addresses and DNS numbers look correct) I cannot access the internet . Has anyone out there successfully set up a configuration like this? Could it be some kind of firewall problem? Did I fail to properly deactivate the Sim Pin in the modem? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks
