Hmmm.

Some possible alternatives?
  • (Unsightly) Sprawl
  • (Cyber) Blight
  • Toxic (Interface)
  • Third-Rail (OS)
  • Steaming-Sewer (View)
  • Seedy (Imitation)
  • Dark-Alley
  • Vagrancy (Arrested for)
  • (Customer) Mugging

How about Microsoft Windows MS-DOS Executive 1.0 SP1?

(I'm afraid I can't remember where I first encountered the attached image, but I can't claim any credit.)

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Sadly, Windows 1.0 is the more sophisticated UI (it's running THREE FOUR APPS at once! With both vertical and horizontal dividers! And a dialog box! Unbelievable!).

Anyway is not a big loss for M$.
I do not think the name Metro was a particularly clever idea ...
