Will this HW run Fedora 17 well?

Hello everyone! I've been using Linux/Unix at work for about 6 years now and I found I really enjoy using it. So, I'm strongly considering ditching Windows and making Fedora 17 my primary OS. But I wanted to ask about my HW setup, to make sure I didn't encounter any glaringly obvious problems. Do you think this would make a good setup for Fedora 17 and upcoming releases?

The best way to find out is to download and burn the LiveCD for your architecture (64 bit), and boot it and see what works and what doesn't. Then search the forums for those components which are troublesome, if any. (Your video card will probably be a lot happier with the nvidia driver, but that can easily be installed after you've put the rest to bare metal.)

In that list, the only thing I can't say will work is the wireless. We'll need the chipset info for that, and I don't have time right now to look it up.

*head desk* Of course! I have one at the house, I'll try it as soon as I get home! I was just playing with Gnome 3.4 on a laptop and I WANT IT! Haha, I realized that I can do everything I need with Linux now, so there is no real reason for me to continue giving Microsoft my hard earned cash. I like solving problems and love doing things from the command like, so I'm not sure why I didn't think of doing this before...

You might be able to use the Windows wifi driver via NDISwrapper.

I'm looking at two possible solutions to this little WNDA3100v2 / Fedora 17 problem... But if I can't get it working properly, are there any dual band N cards, USB or PCI, that work out of the box?

Ended up running a really long eth cable. This WNDA3100v2 is ridiculous, you are basically screwed unless you have wired connection to fix it. If you have that, then it becomes redundent to have a wifi adapter in the first place.

I have problems with wireless card in my netbook (Realtek 8192E chipset) so instead of using long CAT5 cable. I used wireless adapter from my satellite box. This adapter, Netgear WINCE2001 in UK, gives you an Ethernet connection derived from your wireless network, so you can use your ethernet to set it up.It can derive its power from a USB port or you can use 5V mains adapter. I have found this useful with Linux distros that are awkward with wireless cards.I am at present using CentOS 6.3, which uses 2.6.33 kernel and solved printer and wireless card (both Samsung!) problems by searching Google.
Both solutions originated with Ubuntu. Latest Ubuntu (12.04) doesn't seem to have any problems with either.
