Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linu...rors-freshrpms error was
14: HTTP Error 404 - Not Found : http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linu...rors-freshrpms
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: freshrpms

Again i tried to install the same repo as below :

$ sudo rpm -i freshrpms-release-1.1-1.fc.noarch.rpm

Re: problem in freshrpms repository

There are no Fedora 16 repositories at that address. I don't use freshrpms so I'm not too familiar with it, but looking around at the mirrors it appears that the last time it was relevant to Fedora was around Fedora 9. Correct me if I'm wrong.

when my last visit to rpmfusion.org , i learnt that most of the software packages were available at rpmfusion. But bluefish editor may not be available at rpmfusion , so i went to freshrpms to install it and its repos.
I installed and configured rpmfusion repos . If the bluefish and few other packages , dependency files are available in rpmfusion , then yum wont go to somewhere else to search the packages given in the command. ( I think so) . As a new user of linux , i have to dig more about this... Cant we install softwares as we do in windows ? What makes room for these repos in linux ?

Re: problem in freshrpms repository

bluefish is in the F16 repo. Also from the bluefish wiki: http://bfwiki.tellefsen.net/index.ph...ra_16_.2F_i686

You need to be careful when installing anything from outside the Fedora and rpmfusion repos because they might replace versions of critical libraries that Fedora is built on. This is best done on a case by case basis. Installing and enabling 3rd party repos that might update automatically can easily break your system.

You are probably looking for RPM Fusion, where you should find all of the packages freshrpms.net used to build, and many more. Since Fedora 10, freshrpms.net only hosts the libdvdcss package.

Re: problem in freshrpms repository

All freshrpms packages but libdvdcss are part of rpmfusion repository since Fedora 10.
