Thunderbird Freezing

Hi everybody,
For a couple of days Thunderbird keeps freezing when it is started. It uses all the CPU and I cannot do anything while it is running. I 'm on FC17 x86. Any suggestion or just to wait for a fixing update?)

Thank you in advance.

Re: Thunderbird Freezing

I remember seeing an article awhile back--go to preferences, and then, I think it's under options--otherwise, under accounts, and under advanced, then the general tab, uncheck the global search function--see if that helps.

Also, if using IMAP as opposed to POP, you might want to go to accounts, synchronization (or sync or whatever it's called) and uncheck the part about keeping mail on the local machine.

Re: Thunderbird Freezing

Something is up with good old TB. I can not even set up account, it keeps complaining that my settings couldn't be verified. Was about to file report upstream (mozilla).

Re: Thunderbird Freezing

Something is wrong with my laptop, the problem is not related to Thunderbird or any other package. I have a second laptop and a desktop PC (it is very very old ...). I am surprised that I succeeded to install F17 on my desktop. I have just finished with the settings and now I see that a good old PC is evidently better than a modern laptop (at least better than my laptop which has problems with HDD or Processor I think ... ).

P.S. Thank you Fedora, thank you everyone for suggestions.
