Clonezilla install on F15

I do alot of computer repairs for a living and have used clonezilla and love it. However, I was wondering if there is any way to install it on my workbox running fedora15. Id like to be able to hookup a drive via a 'usb to ide/sata' connector and ghost the contents of drives to my secondary drive. Then be able to restore to a replacement drive. This would be alot easier than booting the live cd and I would still be able to work on my box (surf net, ect.). Having the resources is not a problem as I run a PhenomII 6 core with 8 gigs ram.

Thought about running clonezilla in a VM but havent tried it yet.

Anyone? Comments welcome.

Parted Magic has Clonezilla running as a windowed environment. Go here for some screenshots.

They might be able to answer your question of getting your distro of chioce running Clonezilla. Also Clonezilla has there own forum.

Thanks Verndog,

Nice of you to reply - Thanks.

Wouldnt it be really cool though to be able to go:

yum -y install clonezilla

Then hook up a drive via a docking station (via a eSata cable) and backup partitions.

Anyways, I appreciate the reply.

Re: Clonezilla install on F15

For that reason I installed partclone (which CZ uses) on my ~bin folder and cloned my other partitions that way:
Code:
sudo ./bin/partclone.ext4 -c -s /dev/sda8 | gzip -c --fast>image.gz
I've just recently went back to using CZ usb flash drive. The reason is all the extra stuff it puts in the image folder. I hadn't used CZ for quite a while, and was impressed that you can now use the imaged file to restore another partition. Use to couldn't do that. Also the image verification that it now does is something I use to have to do myself...like I said, its been awhile since I last used CZ.

The problem with beginners using CZ, is its interface. Reminiscence of the DOS days and the unending text that flies by.

Even with that being said, its one of the best cloning tools around, if not THE best. True Image is faster on cloning, but I've had problems with it.
