Simple Hard drive install ?

I just downloaded the F16 software and burned a DVD.

I can boot from the DVD, but I want to install F16 on my HD.

Before, with other older versions there was an option on the desktop to start that process.

But with F16, II can't find any way to install it to my HD.

I tried...

su root
# liveinst

But it gives me an error box that sayes, "Can't do live image install unless running from a live image"

What can I do ?

Thanks,
-Areal

Move your mouse on the Activities hotspot (top-left corner) and then you'll see a dock on the left. The most bottom icon on the dock (a hard drive with a green arrow, if I'm not wrong) will start the installation wizard

Nope, there's nothing like that anywhere in my applications.

It looks like I got the wrong software.

But It's the main one from the Website ?

Then try booting with the live disk and press the Tab key at the boot menu. Enter liveinst as a kernel boot parameter and boot. Anyway, that used to cause it to boot directly into the Anaconda installer without first going to the desktop. No promises though since I haven't used a Fedora live CD since Fedora 14's.

Re: Simple Hard drive install ?

If you booted the live it should work also by manually starting the install with the command ubiquity from terminal. (just open the terminal and type ubiquity then press enter).
EDIT
I've seen somewhere else that the install must be started with the command liveinstall from terminal, you might want to chek this one first.

Re: Simple Hard drive install ?

Try this

Code:
su -
/usr/bin/liveinst
This might work.

Or, you can move the cursor to hot corner and type "Ins ...". Does this give "Install to Hard Drive" option?
