Re: goodbye

Debian's certainly a good distro. If you've tried and are tired of Fedora for whatever reason, then it's time to switch. No need to explain.

Wink Re: goodbye

At a guess there will be more coming through the "In" door due to Ubuntu's policies than leaving due to anything Fedora could dream up

Re: goodbye

Fedora has a "policy"? Policy on what?
I agree with Bob, "no need to explain". This is what makes Linux so great, plenty of choices.

Re: goodbye

No need to explain, but sometimes, folks jump to conclusions. It's all good. One of my favorite quotes, that I've seen phrased in a few different ways from different people: Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's no good.

Hrrm, I like Tina Fey's version of it. (And I love Chinese food).

Quote:
“It is an impressively arrogant move to conclude that just because you don’t like something, it is empirically not good. I don’t like Chinese food, but I don’t write articles trying to prove it doesn’t exist.”

Re: goodbye

I think we are now just preaching to the choir. I doubt the OP will return.
He felt he needed to get something off his chest.

Ironically , over the years, each and every year, I install Fedora. It lasts for say a week or two at the most, and then I move on. Fedora16 has done me wrong! Its still installed and one of my favorite distros.

Policies? Debian and Fedora policies?

+1 for Debian 6, great stable distro for my old hardware

Though my introduction and experience with Linux was Redhat and Yellowdog, so with new hardware in the near future I will be giving F16 (or F17) with Gnome 3 a try.

Rants aside, I really like Synaptic Package Manager, so I may end up hanging with Debian (7).

And that's the fun of Linux... CHOICES

Re: goodbye

As stated above ... there's a lot of choir singing going on here, and as most of us who hang around here are patently tone-deaf ...
