Problem: SATA / PATA & "SRST failed" during boot

My system is
Linux 2.6.41.9-1.fc15.i686.PAE #1 SMP i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Recently, my boots have been slow, and receiving messages like "SRST failed (errno = -16)". On the net, I found that this issue has been around for years, so I dug into my hardware setup and found that I have two SATA hard drives (an ST at 3 Gb/s and a WDC at 1.5 Gb/s). However, when I look at the Disk Utility reporting, I find that both drives are on an Intel Corp PATA host adapter, rather than an available JMicron SATA host adapter.

Did I wire something wrong, or is the boot process making the wrong connection?
Is this related to my newly receiving the SRST warnings (which I assume are due to a boot/kernel upgrade)?

Thank you
