Re: Gnome control center Crashing
Maybe it's related to recent upgrades, because before I had no problems ...

Re: Gnome control center Crashing
@ lucifer663:
could it be related to this thread?
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showth...control+center
Do you run the proprietary Nvidia driver?
I have a Nvidia card running the 290.10 driver.
But, sincerely, I don't think this is the problem, because until some days ago (maybe yesterday) the control center was working properly ...
---------- Post added at 06:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:43 PM ----------
I found a temporary solution.
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showth...entation+fault
See post n. 10.
In this case is sufficient to edit:
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so.1 gnome-control-center
At least, in this way, I was able to modify the settings I needed ...
Waiting for a definitive solution to the problem ...
Maybe is related to Nvidia driver and glibc ...

Re: Gnome control center Crashing
I run the last update of akmod-nvidia and kmod-nvidia.
Had a weird problem, because Fedora didn't start up any more (it began hanging on boot).
Solved this problem running: yum reinstall akmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686
And now not only the system load quicker than ever, but, moreover, the control center doesn't crash any more ...
So I can say that, for me, the problem is solved ...

Re: Gnome control center Crashing
ive encountered this problem a few times - mainly when trying to change my audio input device for a voip call - all of a sudden theres segfaults when trying to open gnome-control-center (and strangely enough - also with rhythmbox).
i had resolved it in the past by reinstalling the nvidia packages - but not this time. ill have to try PiElle's solution when i get home. i hope it works.
ill keep you posted

Re: Gnome control center Crashing
Has anyone bothered to a bug report?
This thread has suggestions pointing to the nvidia driver as the culprit but have posted nothing to prove this theory.
There is no error output posted either.
I would try this first to fix the issue

bugzilla.redhat is filled with reports of control-center crashes, many generated by abrt and
others submitted by people. Is there any way to tell whether any work is being done about
it?

Re: Gnome control center Crashing
hi leigh123linux,
well, i for myself followed the trail from this page (cant post the other urls due to post restrictions):
http://ask.fedoraproject.org/questio...entation-fault
most of them probably have nothing to do with my specific issue, i assume... but hey, if reinstalling the nvidia packages works (and it does partly at least, i can open gnome-control-center again, rhythmbox seems to be messed up somewhere else), ill take it
heres the output of (after reinstalling akmod-nvidia and xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686, tho):
Code:
