building licq 1.5.1 rpm

i have tried to build an rpm of licq Version 1.5.1, and after some strugling and installing development packages,, the build ends with:

do i need to be root to continue building?

No, you need to specify the buildroot to the "make install" command

make DESTDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT install
