Fedora 15 Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

Hello all.

I just installed Fedora 15 yesterday and can't get wi-fi to work. When I click 'on' on the Wireless label, it goes back to 'off' immediately. When I open the Network Settings menu and disable Airplane mode, the Wireless connection goes on and then off immediately.

I took a look at /var/log/messages and it shows this:
Quote:
Jun 7 10:19:38 rix NetworkManager[776]: <info> WiFi hardware radio set enabled
Jun 7 10:19:38 rix NetworkManager[776]: <info> WiFi now enabled by radio killswitch
Jun 7 10:19:38 rix NetworkManager[776]: <info> (wlan0): bringing up device.
Jun 7 10:19:38 rix NetworkManager[776]: <info> WiFi now disabled by radio killswitch
That happens when I click 'on' on the Wireless button.

My firmware was just updated to the latest version but it still doesn't work.

Any ideas? Cheers.

Apparently it's blocked. How do I unblock it

For a Acer laptop, as the original poster, there may be some clues in posts 11 and 12 of this thread.

If it's not as Acer 'cmltow', try some of the diagnostics in that thread and post back the result.

@bbfuller Do You have a link to the thread you referenced? " there may be some clues in posts 11 and 12 of this thread." I couldn't find it. Also, how do I find /var/log/messages?

Re: Fedora 15 Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

Hello cmltow

Apologies, I must have been in a hurry and forgot the link. It's here:

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=266687

Specifically, it related to the acer_wmi module, which you also have loading and the blacklisting of the same.

Hope it works for you
