wierd multiple workspace behavior on dual head machine

So as I'm getting used to gnome3 one thing still bugs me- why when I switch workspaces on my multiple monitor machine does only the primary monitor change to a different workspace? The secondary monitor (my laptop screen) shows all open windows I put on it plus it's not even shown in the workspace list. Please tell me there's an extension or something to fix this

I have exactly the same issue..

Just beginning to really get on with Gnome 3 but this is a real let down. If there is a fix could someone share the knowledge

The default is Gnome 3 workspaces only change on primary monitor.

You can change the behavior using Configuration Editor (gconf-editor) and going to /apps/mutter/general/ and un-ticking 'workspaces_only_on_primary'. Restart computer to see the change. Now each workspace covers both monitors, and both monitors change when you change the workspace. However, the workspace list still only shows the primary monitor views.
